The Fire of the Lord Fell
Then the fire of the Lord fell and consumed the burnt sacrifice, and the wood and the stones and the dust, and it licked up the water that was in the trench. 1 Kings 18:38 NKJV
This verse doesn’t just depict a miracle—it offers hope. The fire of the Lord fell not just on the expected parts (the sacrifice and wood) but on the most unlikely elements: the stones, the soil, the soaking wet trench.
When Life Feels Too Drenched for God to Move
Isn’t it true that sometimes we feel like our lives are too messy, too drenched with sin, doubt, or disappointment for God to move. We look at our situation and assume it disqualifies us from experiencing God’s fire. But this verse says otherwise. God specializes in burning up what seems unusable – what seems to be “too drenched” to repair. Yet, He often chooses to demonstrate His power in places where our lives seem most saturated with weakness and sin.
The question isn’t whether you’re dry enough, clean enough, or worthy enough. The question is: are you willing to be available? If so, God can light up even the most waterlogged heart.
