Stop Faltering Between Two Options
And Elijah came to all the people, and said, “How long will you falter between two opinions? If the Lord is God, follow Him; but if Baal, follow him.” But the people answered him not a word. 1 Kings 18:21 NKJV
The word “falter” here means to limp or dance between. Some versions use the word, “waver.” The reality is, Elijah wasn’t just calling out their indecisiveness; he was confronting a dangerous pattern of mixture. The Israelites were trying to worship God while still clinging to the comforts and practices of Baal. It wasn’t outright rejection of God—it was divided loyalty: mixture.
The Danger of Mixture
Many of us fall into the same trap. We mix our worship with convenience, our devotion with distraction. We sing songs on Sunday but lean into worldly coping mechanisms on Monday. The fire of God doesn’t fall on double-mindedness; it falls on undivided hearts.
Choosing Purity Over Perfection
God is not asking for perfection but purity. When we refuse to mix light with darkness – when we say, “Yes, Lord,” with no backup plan, that’s when His fire can fall freely and powerfully. The question remains: how long will we waver? Today is a good day to stop dancing between opinions and choose… whom will YOU serve… and be ALL IN.
