Embracing Our Royal Priesthood
“But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” -1 Peter 2:9
Understanding Our Identity
the Old Testament, the Levitical tribe made up the priesthood, but Jesus placed that priesthood within us. This means we have access to the Holy of Holies – the throne room of God. We don’t need someone else to intermediate for us; we can interact with God one on one. This is good news that comes with great responsibility.
The Call To Purity
The priests in the Old Testament had to go through extensive cleansing rituals to make themselves “holy” and pure before entering the Holy of Holies. They couldn’t have any blemishes, even a scab on their skin. The idea of being purified was taken very seriously, and we should reflect on the importance of purity in our lives. While we live under God’s grace, considering the blemishes that keep us from the fullness of our God story is crucial.
Living Without Compromise
Like the scabs on a priest’s skin, compromise and permissible living can hinder us from manifesting our full identity and intimacy with God. These imperfections can also prevent us from living supernaturally. To fully embrace our royal priesthood, we must strive to live a life that reflects the purity and holiness God calls us to.
